Four right triangles with height   10 / 3      base = 10       Can you calculate the area of a triangle?   ..... then multiply by four.

x + 3y = - 4

3x -10y = 36      Multiply first equation by -3      then add to second equation to get

    -19y = 48       Now you can solve for y      then   x

Area of triangle = 1/2 *  base * height            ( ft²)

Y = 1/x          ( or was that SUPPOSED to be   y is inversely proportional to x²  ??)     

If x is halved

Y = 1/(.5x)

Y = 2/x = 2 * 1/x      Y is doubled

X increases 20%

Y = 1/(1.2x)  =   5/6  * 1/x      Y becomes  5/6 of the original

2/x + 2/y = 30     Multiply this equation by xy (both sides)

2y  + 2x = 30 xy

2 ( x+y) = 30 xy

1/15 ( x+y) = xy
x + y = 10     <==== (given)
   1/15 ( 10) = xy

       2/3 = xy
