What do you mean?  Have you done any trigonometry yet?

I think you made little careless error anon.

I tink you intended your first bracket to have (x+2)

$$x+\frac{2}{3}&=&x-\frac{5}{4}\\\\$$

this has no solutions since 2/3 cannot equal -5/4

Perhaps you should have put brackets in your question but I have answered the question that you presented. !

You have done it simple interest Mathematician. Compound rate is probably more appropriate.

25920=18000(1+r)^2\\
25920/18000=(1+r)^2\\

r=\sqrt{25920/18000}\;-1\\$$
