Very interesting question. No high level maths required.
This question was posted a couple of days ago.

I think it is really interesting. It looks much more difficult than it really needs to be.

Some guidelines for question askers.
Please note:
1) Ask only one question per post.

When do u switch places on a number when ur calculating with roots. for example. √(1-√2)². and then it becomes √2-1. WHYYYY???
When a sqrt is written into a question, only the positive root is required. 1-sqrt2 is negative so that is not the correct root. The correct one would be -(1-sqrt2) = -1+sqrt2 = sqrt2-1
eg
sqrt[ (-2)
2
] = sqrt (4) = 2

How does this work (sqrt(2)-sqrt(8))^2 ?? plz expalain. why doesnt it become -6 or 6 and why is the answear 3??? ty for the answear in before hand
sqr8 = sqrt(4*2) = sqrt4 * sqrt2 = 2sqrt2
sqrt2 - 2sqrt2 = -sqrt2
(-sqrt2)
2
= (-sqrt2)*(-sqrt2) = +2

Do you want more help for this question?
I actually did post a detailed answer but I think it came in at exactly the same time as the other reply and mine vanished.
I was a bit annoyed and I just posted the final answer.
If you need me to help more I can.
Let me see what you have done first though.

how much would you have in the bank if you invested £2000 at an interest rate of 4% p.a, for three years?
If it is compounded yearly it will be
2000*1.04
3
pounds
If it is compounded more often it will be a bit more.

Do you know hae many fluid ounces in a quart? I don't, we stop using imperial units in Australia in 1974.
I could google it an find out, but you could do that yourself.

log is base 10
ln is base e
Your calculator doesn't use any other bases.
You may need to use change of base law
Wikipeadia has a nice list of log laws that i still often refer to.
