A thank you and a follow up question (for our guest answerer)   

There can be an infinite number of answers because there are 2 unknowns (a and b) and only 1 equation.

I have graphed it here for you.

Every point on the graph is an answer but most are not integer answers so they are no good to you.

I have plotted all of our guests answers, there may be many more, I have not thought about it well enough to say.

If you plot each of these points into the equation it should make it true (i have not checked them all but they all seem to sit on the graph nicely.

\(ab = 2a + 3b\)

for instance  take the point (4,8)   a=4 and b=8

ab=4*8=32

2a+3b= 2*4+3*8 = 8+24 = 32

left hand side = right hand side so it is one of the answers. :)

A sphere is inscribed inside a hemisphere of radius 2. What is the volume of this sphere?

I think the radius of tthe sphere would be 1.

So 

\(V=\frac{4}{3}\pi*r^3\\ V=\frac{4}{3}\pi*1^3\\ V=\frac{4}{3}\pi\\ V\approx 4.2\; units ^3\)

Thanking Gavin was good manners but I would be nice for you to state why you think it is incorrect.

I assume the answer in the back of your book was different, if so this is what you should say.

so you could have said.

Thanks a lot!  I think your answer is incorrect because it is different from the answer at the back of the text book, but thanks for your effort. Maybe it was just a little careless error.... ??

That word 'think' with the explanation makes a big difference to the sound of it.

There is a pattern.

With a and b the question is   1/(the new base-1)

Look at the answers you get from this.

Think about this. then you should be able to surmise what the answer to c will be.

a) is 0.1 repeater.

What did you get for b?

So what is c?

That is ok, we all have to learn.

So long as you are always polite and you learn good forum manners quickly there will not be a problem. :)

Always remember to thank people (plus of course people like to get points). If you think the answer is wrong or you do not understand then say so! People actually LIKE you to do this, it shows that you are really trying to learn!

Even if you say you do not understand, or you think the answer is wrong, you can still thank the person for their time :)

You do not want help, you just want someone else to do all your homework for you. 

I will admit that I am tired but you lost me on the third line.
