21/39 x - 44 = 13/39 x - 44/3

    8/39 x  = 44 - 44/3 

 x = 143      Kieth had 77   Pico had 66    then keith ate 44 leaving him 33       and  33 less than Pico

Vertex form of parabola 

y = a (x-2)^2 + 4      sub in the point  1,1 to calculat the value of 'a'

1 = a (-1)^2 + 4

-3 = a

y = -3 (x-2)^2 + 4

y = -3x^2 + 12x - 8

Here is a start....it is just like the previous one

remember  ( these things you have to memorize)   sin 45 = sqrt (2) / 2

   and do you remember    S-O-H-C-A-H-T-O-A   ????

        sin  = opposite / hypotenuse

soooo     sin 45   = sqrt(2)/2    =   opp/hyp    = x / (sqrt (2)    for this diagram

                             sqrt (2) / 2  = x / sqrt(2)          now solve for 'x'

These Q's are all similar....I'll get you started:

sin 45 =   4/x             sin 45 = sqrt 2  / 2

6 + 8(n-1)    is the arithmetic series     starts at 6 boxes   each day the number of boxes is increased by 8

sum of series    (we are looking for 'n')

n/2 ( 6 + 8(n-1) ) = 300

  n/2 ( 6 + 8n - 8) = 300

  n ( -2 + 8n) = 600

   -2n + 8n^2 - 600 = 0      quadratic formula shows   n = 8.79 days    on the 9th day he will run out of crackers !

sin30 = 1/2

sin 30 = opposite / x

1/2 =   2/x

x = 2 / (1/2) = 4  units

tan30 =   sin 30 / cos 30 =  1/2 / (sqrt(3)/2) = 1 / sqrt 3

tan30 = opposite / adjacent

1/sqrt 3 =   7 /x

x = 7 / (( 1/sqrt3)) = 7 sqrt 3
