We only need to worry about the values that  make the denominator = 0   ..so we have

x^2 + 6x + 8 = 0     factor

(x + 4) (x + 2)  = 0

And setting each factor to ), we see that X = -4  and x = -2 make the denominator 0....so the domain is....all x's except -4 and -2

I'm assuming that you mean the line of sight from the tip of the shadow to the top of the tree is 46 degrees..if so, we can use the tangent function to solve this....the height of the tree is given by

Height = 2 * tan (46)

Melody...maybe shania is just noting the famous reflexive property of the "duality of pi(e)"  seen here....

And...to add to what Melody said....if you know some Calculus, the second derivative of this = 1... meaning that this function is "concave up" for all values of x......
