   No, you've got two units there:  minutes and seconds.     

   You have to convert that to a single unit.  It could be minutes or it could be seconds,     

   but not both.  It could even be hours, but that would require additional calculations.     

   If you want hours, you can figure that up yourself; my example would guide you.     

   29.49 seconds / 60 ^seconds/_minute  would give you 0.4915 minute,     

   which you could combine with the 7 minutes, then divide 7.4915      

   into the distance to calculate the speed, feet/second or whatever.

   If you divide the numerator and denominator of 42/72 by 6 you will get an Equivalent Fraction     

   That is true.     

   This process is called "reducing the fraction" and     

   sometimes is specified reducing "to lowest terms".     42/72 = 7/12
