If you mean just how to "do" fractions, you write them as a numerator (top number) over denominator (bottom number).

You can add or subtract (more easily) when the denominators are the same, but you can multiply or divide them even when the denominators are different. If you are dividing, you need to flip the fraction you are dividing by (divisor) and multiply the first fraction by it.

Ex: (1/2) / (1/4) = (1/2) * (4/1) = 2

So as Alan and Melody both pointed out, in this equation √9 would equal only positive 3.

As a result, x = 13

x-10=√9

First add 10 to both sides.

x = 10 + √9

now √9 is equal to plus or minus 3, since (-3)² and (3)² both equal 9. However, positive 3 is called the principal (main) square root.

So technically there are two equations: x = 10 + 3  or  x = 10 + (-3)

So x = 13  or  x = 7

First of all I'm assuming you mean the range of f(x) = x²  

Think of it this way: the range is the set of all the y-values that fit on this graphed function, which is a parabola. You can graph it to make things clearer:)

This parabola is the parent function (the basic parabola function.)

It is a positive function (opens upward) and has its vertex at (0,0).

Since the vertex (lowest point in this case) is at y=0, the y-values cannot go lower than 0.

Therefore, while the domain would be all real numbers, the range would be numbers greater than/ equal to 0.

I just want to point out something to Anonymous:

Your reasoning is good:) but you forgot one small detail. 2√2 is equal to √8, not 8. The square root sign makes a big difference!
