See diagram below:
given the zeroes, the equation is then
y = (x-0)(x-d)
y = x^2 - dx now sub in the vertex 1/2d, -30
-30 = (1/2d)^2 - d (1/2d)
-30 = 1/4 d^2 - 1/2d^2
-30 = -1/4 d^2
d^2 = 120
d = sqrt (120)
The Q said to ASSUME it hangs in a PARABOLIC shape.
I think the distance between the poles is sqrt 120 ..... I'll see if I can work out the solution.....
I am not sure how to include the length of the rope in the solution.....hmmmmm....
Borrowdale 6 men out of (7+6) = 6/13 = .4615
Avondale 10 men out of 12 women = 10/22 = .4545
Borrowdale has slightly higher proprtion of men
1/5 ( a+ 34) = a/5 + 34/5
8% is 8 out of a hundred 8 / 100 = 2/25
7/20 as a percent is 7 ÷ 20 X 100% = 35%
22% is 22 out of hundred 22/100 = 11/50
1/2 is 1 ÷ 2 X 100% = 50%
125% is 125/100 = 1 25/100 = 1 1/4

x / (y sqrt3) multiply by sqrt3/sqrt3
x sqrt 3 / 3y or x y-1 sqrt 3 / 3

Use sin rule to find 'x' = the base
use sin 30 = height / hyp to find height
then area = 1/2 base * height
e = earth diameter in feet
(e+10) pi - e * pi = distance difference
epi + 10 pi - epi
= 10 pi feet
t^2 +6t -40 will have minumum value at t = - b/2a = - (6)/(2*1) = - 3
