cosB  =  -√(16 - 9) / 4 =   -√7/4

This could also be  $249 + $12.36  = $261.36   ......who knows ???

Welll, MG1....there wasn't any "factorizing" in the second one.....just multiplying and  "cancelling"

In the first......is see that (6x - 12) can be factored by taking out the greatest common factor between 6 and 12, which is 6....so..... that leaves us with 6(x - 2).....and as I said, the "x - 2" factors "cancel" in both numerator and denominator.....

Does that make sense ???

Yep.....after reconsidering....I don't like my answer at all..I realize there might be some double - if not "triple" counting in mine....I'll look at Melody's  answer in more detail......but.....just not right now.....
