The two numbers that geno has generated are known as 'Phi".....and it's reciprocal, known as "phi"

And Phi has the property that it is 1 greater than phi

Here's my take on this one.......this is what I term a "seesaw" problem.

That is...

2 * 60   =  5  * x       divide by 5 on both sides

2 x 12   = 24 miniutes....

This makes sense......because 5 cooks is 2.5 times the help that 2 cooks are, it should take them 1/ 2.5 times as long to do the job

Therefore  60 / 2.5  = 24  minutes

(Note that the number of meals doesn't matter, since the amount of work produced is the same...)

9/10x=1/2x+12         1/2  = 5/10   ......so we have

(9/10) x  = (5 / 10)x + 12       subtract (5/10) x from both sides

(4/10) x = 12         4/10 = 2/5

(2/5) x   = 12      to get x by itself, multiply both sides by 5/2

x = 12 (5/2)   = 60 / 2   =  30

Since we know an adjacent side (2.5) and the hypoteneuse (6) of a right tringle, we can use the cosine inverse to find this..... we have

cos ^-1 (2.5 / 6 )  = about 65.38°

I think you mean to find the two integers that are on either side of √125

√(25 * 5)  =

5 √ 5   = about 11.18

So....the answer is 11 and 12...

Sasini....I believe you multiplied incorrectly..... 9 times 7x is 63x, not - 63x......I'll still give you points for a good attempt......

Just like positive fractions.....if we're multiplying with an even number of '-" signs the result is positive....otherwise, the answer is negative

They are all prime, so just multiply them together.....this will give you the least common multiple....
