OK....
Here's how to convert 5 + 1/2 to an improper fraction......
First.......multiply the denominator of the fraction, (2), by the whole number (5).....this gives us 10. Add the "1" in the numerator of the fraction to this.....this gives us 11
Now......put this result (11) over the denominator of the fraction (2).....thus gives us 11/2.....and that's it!!!
I want you to try 8 + 2/3 yourself....just follow the above steps....let me know what you get.......
Once you have mastered this....we'll move on to multiplication of fractions (if that's giving you trouble, too)
It's no good in trying to do these problems if you're having trouble with the "basics".....
