(b)  P (showing different  numbers)  =

(c)  Probability  (second die  shows lesser  number than the first) =  15/36   =  5 / 12

Notice that   

cos^-1  (- √2/2)  asks  the  question.....where does  the cosine = -√2/2  ???

This is at    3pi/4  

So    sin  (cos-1(-√2/2))    = sin  (3pi/4)     =    √2/2

And  notice that   sin (pi/2)  = 1

So  tan-1  (1)   asks the question......where  does  the tan  =  1 ???

This is   at   pi/4 

So....puuting  this altogether  we  have

√2/2  +  pi/4  =

2√2  +  pi

Let  the number of  baskets of grapes =  G

Then the baskets of  plums =   35 - G

So

G (5)  +  (35 - G)(10 )   = 290    simplify

5G  + 350  -  10G =   290

-5G  + 350 =  290       subtract   350  from  each  side

-5G   =  -60     divide  both  sides  by -   5

G  = 12  = baskets of grapes in package

35 - G =  35 - 12  =  23  =  baskets of plums in each package

Notice that the pattern  has a  repeating length  of   4

So  all we  need to   do  is to  evaluate this

12345  mod  4   =    1

This will   be the first   result  in the pattern  =    -2

So

x₁₂₃₄₅  =  -2

AB  is the  hypotenuse=   sqrt  (8^2 + 4^2)   =  sqrt ( 64 + 16) =  sqrt (80)   =  sqrt (16 * 5)  = 4sqrt (5)

cos B  =  BC / AB =   4 / [ 4sqrt (5) ] =   1 / sqrt (5)   =    sqrt (5)   / 5

csc B =   AB / AC =  4sqrt (5) / 8   =   sqrt (5)  / 2

tan A =  BC / AC   = 4 / 8    = 1  / 2

OK....no prob  !!!
