It means "absolute value".....it represents [in general] the distance a number is from 0 on the number line.....
For instance: abs(3) = 3 and also, abs(-3) = 3
Since distance is always positive, then abs(n) is always positive....
3(3x+10)=50-x simplify
9x + 30 = 50 - x addx to both sides, subtract 30 from both sides
10x = 20 divide both sides by 10
