Hi, i got a little behind in math and we are learning about The Unit Circle and Reference Angles, i just need a little explanation please!

Remember, with the unit circle cos x is given by the x value and sinx is given by the y value - this is because the hypotenuse is 1 at all times.

Look at the interactive picture and see if you can comprehend what I am tlaking about and why it it so!

If you understand the unit circle properly it will make much of trig a lot easier to understand and remember.

Understanding the unit circles and reference angles steps below

  •  First you Find the exact trigonometric function values for angles that measure 30°, 45°, and 60° using the unit circle.
  •  Then you Find the exact trigonometric function values of any angle whose reference angle measures 30°, 45°, or 60°.
  •  Lastly Determine the quadrants where sine, cosine, and tangent are positive and negative.
