A point P lies on the hyperbola (x^2/)36 - (y^2)/16 = 1. The distance from P to one focus is 7. What is the distance from P to the other focus?

Determine if the graph of the equation below is a parabola, circle, ellipse, hyperbola, point, line, two lines, or empty.

x^2-50y^2-10x+25=0.

Plz help me

Thank you !!

1. If F_1 and F_2 are the foci, then PF_1 - PF_2 = 10, so the distance from P to the other focus is 17.

Looking at your graph for the first question, I still have no clue whatsoever what the answer might be....

I appreciate the work you have done but PLEASE make your answer clearer to understand.

I know you go to AOPS....

If you don't understand, just check the textbook! You are there to learn after all! Don't just give up and post this problem on this forum... you might get to copy+paste it onto the homework section and get it right, but you might not really understand it. If you really are having trouble, ask your parents, the instructor, read the textbook, or just press "I give up".

Algebra 2 is hard, but you are there to learn, not get the answers.
