How do I solve this 1/2+(1/2+1/4)+(1/2+1/8)+(1/2+1/16)+(1/2+1/32)+…?

There are a total of 5 (1/2)'s. 5 * 1/2 = 5/2

1/4 + 1/8 + 1/16 + 1/32 = 8/32 + 4/32 + 2/32 + 1/32 = 15/32

5/2 = 80/32. 80/32 + 15/32 = 95/32

I hope this helped,

Gavin.

The pattern keeps on going, so that answer is wrong

Well, you have 1/2 being added to smaller and smaller fractions, which means that it diverges to infinity. Or 1/2 x infinity =infinity !!.
