why doesn't sin-1(sin(65) x 22/18) work

Because sin(65)*22/18 is bigger than 1, and there is no angle whose sine is bigger than 1.

Thanks, but could you explain how to solve this problem using law of sines?

In triangle PQR m

Solve the triangle (find all missing sides and angles)

For some reason the info keeps getting cut off, so:

angle p = 65

p = 18

 q= 22

You don’t show the original triangle, so I can only guess that you’ve got the lengths p and q interchanged.

There is no original triangle, they just say triangle pqr

what we learned is that the side opposite to angle p is is side p (etc.)

Nevermind, the answer was that the triangle was "invalid"
