$\mathrm{Substitute\:}x=\frac{21-3y}{4}$

 

$\begin{bmatrix}3\cdot \frac{21-3y}{4}+4y=16\end{bmatrix}$

 

$\begin{bmatrix}\frac{63+7y}{4}=16\end{bmatrix}$

 

$y=1/7$

 

That's all we need to solve the rest!!!

 

$y+y=?$

 

$1/7+1/7 = 2/7$
