From the equation y = -2/5(x) + 8, we can see that any perpendicular line will have 5/2(x) in it. Next, we try and get the line to go through the point (7,2). This means that when we plug in 7 as the x, we should be able to get 2 as the answer for the equation:

y = 5/2(x) +/- [ ... ]

2 = 5/2(7) +/- [ ... ]

2 = 35/2 +/- [ ... ]

-31/2

Now we add that to the equation:

y = 5/2(x) - 31/2
