In 1990 the population of Canada was approximately 26.6 million. The population projection for 2015 is approximately 38.4 million. If the projection is based on a geometric sequence, what would be the annual growth rate?

What assumptions do you also have to make, given that this is a geometric sequence?

26.6 * r25  = 38.4

r = 1.01479          ~~ 1.479 % annual growth rate

I guess you would have to assume first of all that it IS a geometric sequence

    and that the growth is continuous through out the interval and that the ratio r is a constant....
