Ken has 30% more stamps than Vincent. Tim has 80% the number of stamps Ken has.

(a) What is the ratio of the number of Vincent's stamps to the number of Tim's stamps?

(b) If the total number of stamps of Ken's and Tim's is 150 more than Vincent's, how many stamps does Ken have?

Let the number that Vincent has =  V

Then Ken has 1.3V

And Tim  has .80 (1.3)V  =  1.04V

a)   Ratio of   Vincent's   /  Tim's  =      V / [ 1.04 V] =  1 / 1.04  =      100 / 104  =     25 / 26

b)   We have that

Ken's + Tim's  =  Vincent's + 150   ....so.....

1.3 V + 1.04V =  V + 150

2.34 V  = V + 150

2.34 V - V  = 150

1.34V  =  150

V = 150  / 1.34 =  111.94    { This does not produce an integer answer  !!! }

Are you sure your info is correct  tacoBro ???
