There is something called the Order of Operations. This is a rule that states that there is a certain order in which you have to do a problem.

It goes like this:

Parentheses
Exponents
Multiplication & Division
Addition & Subtraction

The problem is 9+4*(8*8-30).
First, we need to do what's in the parentheses. There is multiplication AND subtraction, but we do the multiplication first. That gets us 9+4*(64-30)
Finish what's in the parentheses. 9+4*34
There is only addition and multiplication, but multiplication is done first. That gets 9+136.
Do the addition which gets you 145!

VOILA! Your answer is 145!

Tip: I remember the Order of Operations with a mnemonic.
