Let the price  of a zucchini  = Z

Then....let the price of a kiwi  = Z  +  .25

And we know that

3 (Z + .25)  +   4(Z)  =  4.95     simplify

4Z +  3Z  +  .75  = 4.95         subtract  .75 from both sides

7Z  =  4.20     divide both sides  by  7

Z =  .60   = the price of a zucchini

Z + .25 =  .85  = the price of a kiiwi

Let's make Z the price of a zucchini, and Z + 0.25 the price of a kiwi.

We know that 3(Z + 0.25) + 4 * Z = 4.95.

If we simplify the equation: 3Z + 0.75 + 4Z = 4.95.

Subtracting 0.75 from both sides: 7Z = 4.20

Z = 0.6 which is the price of a zucchini

Z + 0.25 = 0.85 which is the price of a kiwi.

Which is what CPhill got!

(4.95 - 3*0.25) / 7 = 0.6           Zucchini costs 60 cents  and  kiwi costs 85 cents.

                                              Therefore, the cost of  1 kiwi and 1 zucchini is $ 1.45  indecision
