Your notation is fine Jenny,     (although brackets do cut down any possibility of confusion) 

 

f(x)=3/5x^3-9

f(x)=35x39lety=f(x)y=35x39make x the subject5y=3x3455y+453=x3x=35y+453sof1(x)=35x+453

 

I don't know what they want for the verification ....
