A pentagon has four degrees showing 7x+4, 5x+4, 4x+9, 9x-6, 4x+1.  Solve for x.

So we know in a pentagon there are in total 540 degrees.
Then, 7x+4+5x+4+4x+9+9x-6+4x+1 = 540 = 29x + 12

540-12 =  528

528/29 = x

Let me know if you have any questions about the way I solved.

the sum of the interior angles of a pentagon: (5-2)*180 = 540

adding up all the degrees to make an equation, you get:

7x+4+5x+4+4x+9+9x-6+4x+1 = 540

simplifying that (by combining the like terms and adding the constants), you get:

29x+12 = 540

29x = 528

x = 528/29 = 18 6/29

hope this helped! please correct me if i am wrong:)

interior angles of a pentagon = 540deg

so we set up the equation (7x+4)+(5x+4)+(4x+9)+(9x-6)+(4x+1)=540

combine like terms and simplify and divide both sides by 29 to get 528/29
