The separations between numbers on a clock are 30 degrees each. (360 degrees in a circle, 12 hours)

At 5 o'clock, the hour hand is at 150 degrees and the minute hand is at 0 degrees. This makes an angle of 150 degrees.

When the hour hand goes all the way around, from the 12 to the 12, it has traveled 360o i.e., a circle.

When the hour hand stops at the 5, it has gone 5/12 of the way around.

5/12 of 360o is 150o

Unless we're talking about one of those almost non-existant 24-hour analog clocks, but never mind that.
