a 30/60/90 triangle has legs

1/2a opposite the 30 (the short leg)
sqrt(3)(1/2a) opposite the 60 (the mid leg)
a as the hypotenuse (the long leg)

a is some positive number that represents how big the triangle is

so sin(30) = (1/2a)/a = 1/2
